Liv Tyler's Confession

Up-and-coming stars Liv Tyler and Joaquin Phoenix haven't yet learned to keep their feelings hidden from the press, and the two were very open with Variety about their affair. "I'm in love with Joaquin," says the twenty-year-old Tyler. "And it's the first time I'm actually in love." The stars met on the set of the soon-to-be-released film Inventing the Abbotts, and have been living together for almost a year. "I had no idea what the emotion meant until the time I first saw Joaquin," she says, and she confesses that it was "love at first sight." Phoenix says "it wasn't until we started talking that I realized what an honest, genuine person she was." But Phoenix says he didn't originally have romance on his mind. "My reaction was, I'll just have a great friend. I didn't plan on becoming lovers," admits the twenty-two-year-old Phoenix. Perhaps part of their attraction is the fact that they both come from showbiz families--Liv's dad is Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, while Joaquin is the brother of the late River Phoenix. Tyler says that this is the first mature relationship she's had. "I was always the type who had obsessions with men, and they lasted anywhere from fifteen minutes to fifteen hours. When I was making Silent Fall, I had a little obsession with Richard Dreyfuss." For everyone's sake, we hope Liv grows more reticent with age.
